In 1995, the City of Medford, Wisconsin was awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Community Development Block Grant Economic Development Program (CDBG-ED).

The grant was provided under the Economic Development program administered by the Wisconsin Department of Development.

Program income from the grant is used to capitalize the City’s Economic Development Revolving Loan Fund.

This fund will provide an alternate source (lender of last resort) of financing for eligible businesses wishing to expand or locate in the City.

The objectives of this fund are: – To maintain and promote a diverse mix of employment opportunities to minimize seasonal or cyclical employment fluctuations.

– To encourage the creation and retention of permanent jobs which represent a range of wage scales appropriate to the skills and experience of the local labor force.

A minimum of 51% of the jobs created shall be targeted to low- and moderate-income persons.

– To encourage the leveraging of new private investment in the City.

– To maintain a positive business climate which encourages the retention and expansion of existing businesses and industry and helps to attract desirable new businesses and industry.

– To encourage the development of modern technology as well as safe and healthy work environments.

– To promote industrial and commercial development in the City.
