Economic Development and Cultural Affairs sponsors various loan programs to help businesses get started and grow.

By making money available, business owners are able to create jobs and stimulate growth within Long Beach – making the city better for everyone.



Long Beach Business Loan Program Under this program, existing businesses may qualify for financing of up to several hundred thousand dollars.



Microenterprise Loan Program This program provides up to $25,000 to start-up and existing businesses.

A microenterprise business is defined as having five or fewer employees, one of which is the owner.

The income of the owner must not exceed certain limitations as defined by the U.S. government.



Grow Long Beach Loan Program This program provides loan amounts from $25,000 to a maximum set by SBA7a financing for existing businesses.

The interest rate is based on prime lending rate of commercial banks and ranges from Prime+1% to Prime +2.75%.



General Requirements (Note: This information is subject to change)

– Business must be located within the City of Long Beach and have a current City of Long Beach business license.

– Personal & business credit history demonstrating the ability to repay the loan.

– Personal contribution of capital.

– In some cases, complete business training workshops and prepare a business plan – Financial statements and personal & business tax returns.

– Collateral and/or personal guarantees.

– Provide jobs or, in some cases, benefits the neighborhood.
